In June 2014, the Pure Art Foundation unveiled Phase One of our third medical dispensary in the district of Manantay in Pucallpa, a Peruvian Amazon city. Part 1 of a three phase initiative to bring health, education & sustainability to this community, this new dispensary, built in memory of Dr. Peter Gruner, offers a waiting room, doctor’s office & examining room as well as a pharmacy named after Suzanne Laplante. We look forward to construction of Phase 2, an educational centre for health and prevention against diseases, scheduled to commence in March 2015.
This wonderful project, that will service a community living in the slums on the outskirts of Pucallpa, has been made possible by the hard work of our wonderful supporters. Thank you to our generous donors & to all the volunteers who participated through a local garage sale, our Spinathon & The Feast for the Senses.
The clinic, run by two auxiliary nurses, is now open 4 days a week from 4:00pm until 7:00 pm & Dr.Navarro, seen below, is on site once a week to see patients. All medication available at the pharmacy can be collected by patients for a minimal fee.
Phase Two of the project will begin in 2015 with a fresh water well & a centre providing educational workshops on nutrition, sexual & maternal health & prevention of diseases. Sustainability begins with health & education and we look forward to a bright future for the families living in this community.
